Rick Perry Interview with Jon Stewart

Rick Perry and Jon Stewart talk about the federal government having more control over the state government. Rick Perry thinks the federal government should not have as much power as they have, he is "fed up" with it. Rick Perry is a republican according to my understanding and research so he is conservative but is stating liberal ideas because he wants to change the government power structure fast. He wants states to have more freedom because states like the way the run things and have gotten success from it. They don't need the federal government stepping into everything. As Rick Perry, said they need to be there just for the basics. A consequence of this though is that when the federal government is needed they won't step in and change or fix what needs to be.

Research Questions !

Why are Republicans hopeful their party will gain Congressional seats during the
2010 midterm elections? What factors might disrupt these hopes for the Republicans?

Republicans are hopeful to gain Congressional seats during the 2010 midterm elections because most of the seats are Democratically owned at the moment. This means it is very easy for the Democrats to pass there legislator. They want to slow down Democrat progress and increase their own. If the Democrats who are running also win there the Republicans will have to wait for the presidential elections.

Explain the reasons the Tea Party formed and what message this sends to both
Republican and Democratic parties. What impact do you think the Tea Party will
have on the 2010 midterm elections?

The Tea Party feels Congress is not listing to the people. They want smaller government and were created to change this. The Tea Party was created with Republican money so I feel its the Republicans trying to resell there package again because they cant under a Republican title because Bush ruined that. The impact is its taking votes away from the Democratic and Republican partys meaning they probably wont win much but there harming the other partys. This may be what the Republicans want.
